Not even sure how to go about this it was so good, but will start from the beginning!!!!!
The first day we found Bogota a very
beautiful city that was much cooler than I was expecting, temperatures
were about a high of 60 and low was in 40’s. The hotel was not the one I
thought we were going to be in but it was very
nice (name was Cite and will have to do my itinerary over for next
trips) and their was plenty of nice restaurants all around us within
walking distance.
Next day we found our self’s on a plane to
Inirida in which we flew the government airline called Satena which was a
very nice Jet which took an hour. Upon landing they brought us for a
home cooked lunch at small private restaurant
in Inirida and then we were quickly brought to the river in which we
boarded our boat for our two hour boat ride to the camp, being this was
the first trip of the year we ran into our first kink as the first two
boats had engine problems and this trip ended
up taking us 6 hours and we would end up missing the first afternoon of
fishing as we got into camp way after dark.
First day of fishing was marked with a lot
of adjusting and what I could see right away was it was a great topwater
bite especially for the big prop baits like High Rollers Rip Rollers
and the old wood choppers if you still have
them. I lost three Rip Rollers on the first day as the water is still
high and they would get you into the trees right away. I usually always
throw 50# braid, I am recommending 65# braid for this trip for the
future, the peacock bass are on steroids in this
area and appear to be lifting weights, very strong and very mean!!!!!
We caught many teeners and I believe 9 peacock bass 20# up to 23#. I
hate to say this but the 50# line was too light and I lost some monsters
in the tree’s I believe that were bigger (I
know, sure the “big” one got away), but they were!!!! You all will love
this bite at this camp!!!! We found the water dropping when we arrived
but with three days of rain had the water levels coming up those days
and began dropping again the last day. The
fishing was still good and the outlook for next trips is even better
for water levels. The guides were fair, not up to River
Plate/Demini/Kalua standards but the trade off was big fish and their
are plenty of these big fish in the areas we fished. With time
the guides should improve, they know the areas like the back of there
hands but are not the most experienced with our style of fishing and/or
helping as of yet. The boats were different and had a few flaws that can
be fixed and they are working on it but they
are safer than most Brazil boats and more stable. Very fish-able no
matter.
The camp was very nice and reminded me of
the early years with River Plate, no A/C but we had a nice sized fan
that kept it cool at night and we had a queen sized bed in each 10′ X
20′ tent on a hard wood floor set up about 3′ off
the ground. They were very comfortable!!!!! The food was very family
styled and very good with a great variety throughout the week and they
would adjust the food to your liking, tents were kept clean and laundry
was done everyday though because we had three
days of on and off rain drying the clothing was on the tough side but
it all worked out great. The camp staff was top notch and very
accommodating!!!!!
I have added on some new weeks that we can
send anglers down and will post them on the next international update
but if you are looking to go I highly recommend this trip!!!! Give me a
yell at 954-609-3671 or just write me back
at sflpeacock@aol.com.
